Methodology
Every row is a verbatim sentence read from the named source's own page through our fetch service on the date shown, hash-pinned to the stored read (the sha of the page's visible text; the raw page is mirrored to R2).
8 of the 13 named sources that could be read published a usable figure; 5 published none and are recorded as not published, never filled in; 0 could not be read (blocked, dead or unreachable) and count nowhere.
The headline figures (median, minimum, maximum, quartiles) are over ONE figure per source for each breakdown it prices, in % (a source's median where its page yielded several accepted sentences for one breakdown), so a page that gives figures for several breakdowns gives one for each and N counts 28 figures, never sentences; 68 candidate sentence(s) were refused by a reviewer with the reason recorded.
The fuller derivation this dataset is chartered to grow into (not yet what the figures above are; they are each source's own published figure as read): every published CTR curve and SERP-feature reading side by side with its publisher, date, market, device and sample, which no single study does: Advanced Web Ranking's monthly study (position 1 at 20.9% average CTR over the last twelve months against 28.0% the twelve before, US all devices, with AI Overview pages split out), Backlinko's 4-million-result study (27.6% for position 1), SISTRIX's mobile study (28.5%, 15.7% and 11% for positions 1 to 3), First Page Sage's 2026 curve (blended position 1 at 7.1% against 39.8% in its 2025 report; 22.6% with no AI answer, 3.6% with one), Ahrefs on AI Overviews (a 34.5% lower CTR for the top page) and on featured snippets (~12.29% of queries carrying one, and the #1 page getting the most traffic only 49% of the time), Semrush's AI Overview prevalence series (6.49% of keywords in January 2025, nearly 25% in July, 15.69% in November), Seer Interactive's AIO-present CTR series and Pew Research's browsing panel (a traditional result clicked on 8% of visits with an AI summary against 15% without); the spread of position-1 CTR across studies, the newest reading, the change since each study's previous edition, and AI Overview prevalence and its CTR penalty on the same axis, so a reader can turn a ranking into expected clicks with a dated range rather than one borrowed number - and see that the '12% of searches have featured snippets' and '30% of clicks at #1' figures still quoted date from before AI Overviews
68 candidate sentences on these pages were refused by a reviewer; each refusal and its reason is recorded in the review ledger.
